Narayana, a noble ox at Nava Vraja Dhāma

Narayana the Noble Soul

Born: 7 September 2013

Narayana was born with a challenge that shaped his entire life. Although many attempts were made to train him for work, a problem with his legs meant that he would begin limping whenever work became too demanding, and each attempt had to be abandoned. While he never became a working ox, Narayana earned respect in a different way. Gentle and good natured with people, he carries a quiet strength that the other oxen clearly recognize. His presence alone is often enough to command respect within the herd, and many of the others prefer not to challenge him. Narayana reminds us that every ox has value, whether they pull a cart or simply grace the pasture with their noble presence.
